Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930-$2,030

- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 p.m.-7:00 a.m.
- Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week, typically three shifts
- Weekend Requirement: Three weekends within each six-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Call: No on-call requirement
- Unit: 44-bed Ortho Neuro Trauma Care Center; typical night-shift ratios of 1:4-7
- Charting: Recent Epic experience required
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs without competing health system or agency logos
Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active compact Registered Nurse (RN) license
- At least 2 years of Registered Nurse experience, including a minimum of 1 full year in orthopedic, neurological, or trauma nursing
- Previous travel nursing experience, with at least 1 completed travel assignment
- Level II trauma experience
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification
- Current NIHSS certification
- Associate degree or nursing certificate
- Strong neurological assessment, critical-thinking, and patient-prioritization skills
- Ability to complete telemetry testing and demonstrate stepdown-level experience
- Adaptability to float within the nurse's skill set, including to nearby clinical campuses when needed
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to patients with orthopedic injuries, broken hips or femurs, spinal conditions, rib fractures, and neurological diagnoses.
- Perform thorough neurological assessments and recognize changes in patient condition promptly.
- Care for patients requiring log rolling, back braces, immobilizers, assistive devices, and other mobility-support interventions.
- Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs and safely manage patients requiring close cardiac monitoring.
- Insert and maintain peripheral IVs and administer medications and therapies according to clinical standards.
- Apply preferred skills such as chest tube and drain management, heparin or other medication drips, epidural management, PEG and NG care, traction, pin-site care, wound packing, wound vacs, CIWA support, and On-Q management as applicable.
- Collaborate with providers, nursing leadership, rehabilitation teams, and families to promote safe, coordinated patient care.
- Float within the nurse's competency when assigned and support a team-oriented environment that may include precepting students or new team members.
