Medical-Surgical Telemetry Travel Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Renal Unit | Evansville, Indiana
Join a high-acuity Cardiac Renal Unit as a Medical-Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) on a 13-week travel nursing contract in Evansville, Indiana. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Evansville, Indiana
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: May 18, 2026
- Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Weekend Requirement: Three weekends in each six-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Unit: 41-bed Cardiac Renal Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit
- Typical Night Ratio: 1 RN to 5–7 patients
- Float Expectations: First to float within your skill set, including occasional assignments at nearby affiliated campuses with advance notice when possible
- Charting: Recent Epic experience required, including completion of a telemetry checkoff
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with an active compact license
- At least 2 years of strong cardiac and telemetry nursing experience
- At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment
- Experience in a Level II trauma setting
- Associate degree or nursing certificate
- Current AHA BLS certification
- Current AHA ACLS certification
- Current NIHSS certification
- Ability to successfully complete required telemetry testing
- Strong patient assessment, communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills
- Adaptable, dependable, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a high-acuity healthcare environment
- Applicants must live outside the designated 40-mile local radius
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to high-acuity medical-surgical and telemetry patients
- Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms and 12-lead EKGs
- Care for patients with atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, atrial flutter, heart blocks, congestive heart failure, COPD, sepsis, behavioral health or CIWA needs, post-ablation recovery, dialysis needs, and heart catheterization without intervention
- Initiate and titrate ordered infusions, including antiarrhythmics, heparin, amiodarone, and other cardiac or symptom-management medications
- Manage stable heparin, furosemide, and pantoprazole infusions according to protocol
- Perform peripheral IV insertion and provide care for chest tubes, indwelling drains, continuous bladder irrigation, and nephrostomy tubes
- Complete thorough patient assessments, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly
- Float within the nurse's competency and support patient care across affiliated campuses when assigned
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote positive patient outcomes
- Contribute to a teaching environment by participating in precepting students or new team members as needed
