Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN - Medical Surgical for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience and MO or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Medical Surgical unit within a short-term acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes acute care patients with infections, renal, cardiac, pulmonary, oncology, ortho, bariatric, pre-transplant, observation, psychology, long-stay, and COVID diagnoses
- High patient turnover with varied conditions received from the ED, including short-stay and long-stay patients
- Patient ratios are 4:1 for day shift and 5:1 for all other shifts
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
- Every third weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
- Uses Epic for charting
- Utilizes Alaris pumps, CPAPs, BiPAPs, bladder scanners, lifts, hover mats, EKGs, and scales
Requirements
- Active MO or compact RN license required (no issuance if tied to another compact state)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- CPI certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required; 2 years preferred, or 1+ years with Level I Trauma/teaching facility experience considered
- Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Skills in cardiac monitoring and emergency response required
- Experience with tracheostomy care/management and respiratory care preferred
- Must be able to accommodate facial hair fit-testing requirements for respiratory protection
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a high-turnover Med/Surg unit, managing a wide variety of patient conditions and acuity levels
- Receive additional required training to care for diverse patient populations placed based on bed availability
- Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital
- Navy scrub color required
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
- RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
- Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period at this facility, followed by a required 3-month break in service
- Former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a travel clinician
- Pending license accepted at time of submission
