American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical/ENT-Plastics unit requiring 1-2 years of experience and MO or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

  • Active RN license (MO state or compact) required, compact license must match permanent residence
  • Pending IL license accepted for IL-based candidates
  • Currentications: ACLS and BLS required, BSN preferred
  • 2-2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required, will consider 1+ year with Level I Trauma or Teaching Facility experience
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Experience with feeding tube care, colostomy/ileostomy management, and surgical drain care
  • Competency in tracheostomy care, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols, heparin, and PCA medication administration
  • Must be clean-shaven or have facial hair compatible with respirator fit testing standards
  • No prior travel experience required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for ENT and Plastic Surgery patients including cuffed/cuffless tracheostomies, total laryngectomies, and carotid blow-out precautions
  • Monitor free flap patients and perform drain care, tube feeding, and wound care
  • Utilize telemetry monitoring for cardiac and respiratory assessment
  • Work within a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital environment
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Float within service line/scope of practice as needed to meet facility staffing needs
  • No on-call responsibilities required
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
  • Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
