Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring at least 2 years of experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a Medical Surgical unit (4SW) caring for post-surgical and GI-related patients
  • Patient population includes colon surgery, Whipple procedure, cholecystectomy, liver resection, bariatric surgery, GYN surgery, mastectomy, hernia surgery, colitis, pancreatitis, abdominal pain, gastroparesis, bowel obstruction, and Crohn's disease
  • Patient ratio of 1:5-6
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend coverage required
  • Floating to similar units for Med/Surg patient care may be required

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • Charting system experience required (any EMR)
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP and chest tube management preferred
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry preferred
  • Experience with colostomy/ileostomy care and feeding tube management
  • Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experience with insulin protocols and PCA administration
  • Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

  • Provide direct patient care for a diverse surgical and medical patient population
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates residing within 70 miles of the facility are considered local and are not accepted for this position
  • Clinicians who have worked as a traveler for over 1 year must take a 6-month break before returning to travel assignments
  • OSHA Respirator Clearance and fit testing required prior to start; candidates must be clean-shaven to ensure proper mask seal
  • Facility does not accept medical or religious exemptions for fit testing requirements
