Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and BLS certification.

Details

  • Med/Surg unit (4SW Med/Surg Care)
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Patient ratio of 1:5-6
  • Float ability to similar units required to care for Med/Surg patients
  • Every other weekend coverage required
  • Patient population includes colon surgery, Whipple surgery, cholecystectomy, liver resections, bariatric surgery, GYN surgery, mastectomy, hernia surgery, colitis, pancreatitis, abdominal pain, gastroparesis, bowel obstruction, and Crohn's disease

Requirements

  • Active WI or Compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
  • Charge experience preferred
  • Experience with 1:5-6 patient ratios
  • Charting system experience required (any EMR)
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and peripheral line care, PICC line management, respiratory care (BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, oxygen administration), colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube care, medication administration (Heparin, Insulin, PCA), cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring and rapid response/code teams preferred
  • Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care preferred
  • Experience with surgical drains preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for a variety of surgical and GI diagnoses
  • Must shave facial hair to ensure proper mask seal for respirator fit testing; no medical or religious exemptions accepted
  • Candidates residing within 70 miles of the facility are considered local and are not accepted
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Clinicians cannot work more than one year as a traveler without taking a 6-month break before returning
