Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) Days This position is based at a tertiary teaching hospital in a clinical setting that manages complex medical-surgical and oncology patient populations. The RN will provide direct patient care for a 32-bed unit, supporting patients with crossover care needs such as GI, GU, and general surgery. The role involves critical assessment, complex procedures, and potentially precepting students and new hires within a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, days, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Current active compact license; current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications; minimum of two years of strong Med/Surg experience including trauma level II background; recent EPIC charting experience (will require checkoff class); associate degree or certificate.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, CBI, stable drips (heparin, Lasix, Protonix), epidural management, PEGs/NGs, ostomy care, post-Whipple procedures, neutropenic precautions; strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Float: First to float with skillset within the campus. Cross-campus float to ancillary hospital with 2-hour notice; intra-campus float within same campus as needed, unlikely cross-campus mid-shift float.
  • On Call/Call Back Requirement: Not required.
  • Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Three weekends out of every six-week schedule; every other holiday.
  • Start Date: 11/02/2026
  • End Date: 01/31/2027
