Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN with PA or Compact RN licensure and Cerner charting experience for a hospital-based night or day shift assignment.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit setting within a hospital
• Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) or Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) schedule available
• Patient ratio of 1:7
• Floating required within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius if needed
• Every other holiday coverage required

Requirements

• Active PA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, wound care/wound vac, and cardiac monitoring with emergency response
• Experience with GI, respiratory, GU/renal, and orthopedic patient care preferred
• Experience with medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to Med/Surg patients including management of dysrhythmias and use of rapid response/code teams
• Care for patients with gastrointestinal, respiratory, genitourinary/renal, orthopedic, and neurological/psychiatric conditions
• Two supervisor references preferred
• Former permanent employees of the facility are not eligible to return as travelers
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• Willingness to float to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius required
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
