Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg-Tele RN requiring an active PA or Compact license, BLS and ACLS certification, and at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Details

  • Hospital-based Med/Surg-Tele unit setting
  • Patient population includes med/surg, neurological/psychiatric, orthopedic, plastics, and endocrine/metabolic cases
  • Typical patient ratio of 1:7
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00) or day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00) available
  • Straight nights can be accommodated
  • Floating required within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius as needed

Requirements

  • Active RN license (PA or Compact) required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA certifications only)
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Cerner charting system experience preferred
  • Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team protocols
  • Experience with wound care/wound vac management
  • Experience with medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA
  • Two supervisor references preferred
  • SSN, DOB, and RTO required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care across a diverse patient population
  • Support includes rapid response and code teams for emergency situations
  • Must be available to work every other holiday
  • Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
  • Travel pairs may be accommodated based on facility need, though matching schedules cannot be guaranteed
  • Former permanent employees of the facility are not eligible to return as travelers
  • Fingerprinting, drug screening, and required labs must be completed within 24-48 hours of signing
  • All compliance requirements must be cleared by the Wednesday prior to start
  • Pre-start orientation modules (approximately 1 hour) must be completed before entering the facility
