Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN with prior travel experience and telemetry skills to work 3x12 day shifts in a fast-paced surgical/neuro unit.

Details

• Work on a 19-bed private room Medical Surgical unit
• Patient population ranges from young adults through geriatric patients
• Unit prioritizes medical surgical, neurology, and neurosurgical patients
• Unit is equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required and in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with 1:6 patient ratios preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral/PICC line care
• Experience with GI, respiratory, genitourinary, and neurological/psychiatric conditions
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry
• Experience with high-alert medications such as heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
• IV insulin protocol experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for medical, surgical, neurology, and neurosurgical patients
• Utilize telemetry monitoring and respond to rapid response/code team activations as needed
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be accepted
• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris counties are not eligible
• Former staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of requested time off will be auto-approved, and no RTO is allowed during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
