Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry position requiring 2+ years of experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit with 18 private rooms and 1 semi-private room, maximum census of 20 patients
• Patient population ranges from young adults through geriatrics with a broad range of care needs
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00-19:00)
• Half of scheduled shifts fall on weekends

Requirements

• Active TX or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skills include IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and PICC line management, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring required
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and respiratory care (oxygen administration, nasal cannula, suctioning) required
• Experience with gastrointestinal care (colostomy/ileostomy, feeding tubes) and medication administration (Heparin, Insulin, PCA) required

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care to a diverse patient population with varying acuity levels
• Utilize rapid response/code teams as needed for emergent patient care
• Wound care and wound vac management skills preferred
• Pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care experience preferred
• Pre/post hemodialysis and renal failure management experience preferred
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Candidates residing in certain nearby Texas counties are not accepted for this contract
• Former staff members must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Onboarding requires completion of core items/labs within 48 hours of contract signing, including onsite orientation modules
