Job Summary
Medical Surgical Oncology Floor Nurse Coordinator located in Needham, MA. This role involves supporting medical oncology physicians and nurse practitioners in an ambulatory care setting. The nurse coordinator will assist patients throughout their cancer journey, coordinate treatment preparations, perform telephone triage, and provide patient education to enhance the overall experience.
Job Details
- Position: Nurse Coordinator Medical Surgical Oncology Floor Needham, MA
- Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Years of Experience: Must have at least 2+ years of oncology experience, with proficiency in making VNA/Hospice/DME referrals, coordinating referrals to specialists, setting up imaging and IR procedures, and obtaining authorization for oral chemotherapy drugs. Must possess phone triage skills, good communication, and organizational abilities.
- Schedule: Days shifts, 8 hours per day, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Responsibilities include guiding patients through their treatment, coordinating appointments, managing symptoms, and acting as the primary contact for patient inquiries before chemotherapy begins.
- Orientation sessions are held weekly.
- Candidates must have recent experience working closely with physicians and patients in an outpatient oncology setting, understanding symptom management, and demonstrating excellent computer and telephone triage skills.
- Applicants must be able to provide their availability for interviews upon submission.
- Travelers who have worked for the employers affiliated health system as perm or per diem within the last six months will not be accepted; candidates must be separated from the facility for at least six months to be considered.
