Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg-Oncology RN for a night shift position requiring current Med/Surg acute care experience and BLS/ACLS certification.

Details

• Inpatient Medical Surgical Oncology unit
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Patient ratios typically 1:4, occasionally 1:5
• Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
• No set or blocked scheduling available
• Floating to other Med/Surg and Oncology units required
• Cares for patients with lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute and chronic leukemias, sickle cell disease, and other hematologic and oncologic conditions
• Performs chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, and IV antibiotics
• Manages oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome and cytokine release syndrome
• Administers insulin and heparin drips
• Utilizes telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• OCN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care experience in Med/Surg required, within the last 12 months
• Oncology or Hematology/Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
• Experience with central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care and management
• Experience with blood product administration and central line blood draws
• Feeding tube care and management experience
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor and no coworker references accepted

• Strong emphasis on isolation precautions and PPE use
