Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Travel Nursing Contract in Portland, Oregon

• Floating: May float within medical-surgical units and to nearby units or facilities based on staffing and patient-care needs
• Additional Requirement: Reliable personal transportation is required

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Oregon; compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support certification
• Experience with electronic health record documentation; Epic is used in the healthcare setting
• Ability to care for adult and geriatric patients in an acute-care hospital environment
• Proficiency with IV therapy, telemetry monitoring, oxygen delivery, isolation precautions, wound care, central lines, PICC lines, feeding tubes, surgical drains, chest tubes, blood products, and medication protocols
• Willingness to float as needed and work the required alternating weekends
• Availability to work 3 of 5 designated holidays during the travel nursing assignment when scheduled
• Two professional references covering at least 1 year of recent clinical experience

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients
• Complete comprehensive nursing assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, insulin, and anticoagulants according to established protocols
• Monitor telemetry and recognize changes in patient condition, escalating concerns promptly
• Manage peripheral and central lines, PICC lines, feeding tubes, urinary catheters, surgical drains, and chest tubes
• Provide wound care, wound-vac management, ostomy care, oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway support, and tracheostomy care as indicated
• Support patients experiencing renal failure, bowel obstruction, CVA, substance withdrawal, and post-surgical recovery
• Collaborate with physicians, rapid response teams, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation services, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Respond effectively to changes in patient status and participate in rapid response or emergency interventions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and promote a safe, respectful patient-care environment
