Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,790–$1,880
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• End Date: January 25, 2027
• Shift: Nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, including Friday and Saturday night shifts
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients
• Typical Assignment Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
• Call: Not required
• Floating: Potential floating within medical-surgical units and to nearby affiliated facilities based on patient-care needs
• Documentation: Electronic health record charting
• Additional Requirement: Reliable personal transportation is required

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon or a compact RN license held in hand at submission
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience in an acute care setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience using an electronic health record; Epic experience is preferred
• Demonstrated ability to safely care for up to four adult or geriatric patients
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and teamwork skills
• Willingness to float between medical-surgical units or nearby affiliated facilities when needed
• Ability to work required weekends and three of five designated holidays during the assignment
• Two professional references covering at least one year of nursing experience within the last three years

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients
• Complete focused and comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient progress
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, insulin, heparin, and other treatments according to orders and policy
• Manage peripheral IVs, central lines, PICC lines, feeding tubes, surgical drains, chest tubes, wound vacs, and continuous bladder irrigation as appropriate
• Care for patients with conditions including renal failure, bowel obstruction, stroke, substance withdrawal, and post-surgical needs
• Provide telemetry monitoring, oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula support, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management within scope and competency
• Recognize changes in patient condition and collaborate with rapid response and code teams when indicated
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, procedures, and discharge needs
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary partners, including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and IV teams
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and promote a safe, compassionate patient experience
