Travel Nursing Job Details

• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Location: Portland, Oregon
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• End Date: January 25, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,790–$1,880
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, including Friday and Saturday nights
• Call: Not required
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Typical Assignment Ratio: 1:4
• Unit Environment: Acute-care Medical/Surgical unit with approximately 40 beds
• Floating: May be required within Medical/Surgical units or to nearby facilities based on patient-care needs

Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Oregon; compact license must be active and in hand when required for submission
• At least 1 year of recent Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience using electronic health records and documenting patient care accurately
• Competence with adult and geriatric acute-care nursing, telemetry monitoring, IV therapy, peripheral and central line care, PICC management, blood product administration, wound care, drains, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and tracheostomy care
• Ability to manage patients requiring oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway support, isolation precautions, insulin and heparin protocols, and post-operative monitoring
• Willingness to float between units or nearby facilities when needed
• Reliable personal transportation for the assignment
• Availability to work every other weekend and commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays
• Two professional references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years

Medical/Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric Medical/Surgical patients during 12-hour night shifts
• Complete assessments, develop and update individualized care plans, administer medications, and evaluate patient responses to treatment
• Monitor telemetry and recognize changes in patient condition, escalating concerns promptly through appropriate clinical channels
• Manage IV therapies, central and peripheral lines, PICC lines, blood products, insulin and heparin protocols, wound vacs, drains, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and continuous bladder irrigation as indicated
• Use rapid response and code-team resources appropriately while supporting emergency interventions
• Provide patient and family education related to medications, treatment plans, recovery, and discharge needs
• Document patient care thoroughly in the electronic health record
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory services, rehabilitation, pharmacy, radiology, social services, IV teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Adapt to changing unit needs and deliver consistent care when floating to another Medical/Surgical unit or nearby facility
