Description

American Traveler is seeking an ICU RN with prior travel and critical care experience for a night shift Medical-Surgical ICU position requiring TX or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Medical-Surgical ICU setting
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), with 36 or 48 hour options
  • 1:2 patient ratio
  • Epic charting system used

Requirements

  • Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS required; NIHSS and PALS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, and blood product administration
  • Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, BiPAP/CPAP, and airway suctioning required
  • Experience managing acute/chronic renal failure and CVVHD/CRRT
  • Proficiency titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and administering continuous IV sedation
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and phlebotomy

Additional Information

  • Care for critically ill Medical-Surgical ICU patients requiring advanced monitoring and multisystem support
  • Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU work settings, with Neuro ICU experience preferred
  • Exposure to advanced neuro, cardiovascular, and respiratory interventions such as EVDs, ICP monitoring, IABP, and TAVR support
  • Must complete onboarding core items/labs within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Orientation modules completed onsite, averaging 4-6 hours for RNs
  • Not accepted if residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties
  • Local candidates within 50 miles not accepted
  • Previous staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • No more than 3 days of RTO auto-approved, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
  • Travel pairs or groups not accepted
