Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift acute care position requiring an active IL RN license and BLS certification.

Details

• Work in a Medical-Surgical Acute Care unit within an acute care hospital setting
• 18-bed unit with mostly private rooms and one semi-private room
• General medicine patients with a variety of diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 4-5:1 on days and 5-6:1 on nights
• RNs are required to titrate Heparin drips
• Patients may require oxygen up to 6L NC or stable BiPAP/CPAP overnight or PRN
• Telemetry patients monitored remotely via house-wide telemetry department using Philips equipment
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with shift report at 7a and 7p
• Works every other weekend (Fri/Sat nights)
• Holiday rotation required per facility policy
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Travel RNs are first to float to other units as needed

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• ACLS preferred for Charge RN role
• 1+ year of hospital experience preferred
• Must be able to perform IV starts and utilize unit resources as needed
• Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels as part of facility requirements

Additional Information

• 24-hour Charge RN coverage with occasional patient assignment, plus 24/7 house supervisor support
• Two PCTs per shift with a 9:1 ratio when the unit is full
• Unit clerk (PCL) provides 24-hour coverage
• Hospitalist/Intensivist and Respiratory Therapy in house 24/7
• Pharmacy prepares all medications and is available 24/7
• Inpatient phlebotomy team handles blood draws when RN attempts are unsuccessful
• One 12-hour orientation shift with a unit preceptor typically provided for travel RNs
• Any color scrubs accepted; RNs must provide their own (no pediatric scrubs)
• Local rates available for clinicians residing within 50 miles of the facility, with no strict radius requirement for eligibility
• COVID vaccination is not required for this facility
