Job Summary
ICU Medical Nurse (Registered Nurse) Nights, in a Level III Trauma Center. This position involves providing specialized care in a 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with floating requirements across adult medical and surgical units. The role demands experience with critically ill patients and competence in telemetry, with work scheduled overnight shifts.
Job Details
- Position Description: ICU Medical Nurse (Registered Nurse) responsible for patient care in a 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU, with responsibilities including managing adult patients diagnosed with conditions such as Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe Psychiatric conditions, DKA, Sepsis, GI bleed, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, and Cardiogenic Shock. The unit operates 24 hours/day with attending physicians and residents present around the clock. Floating to other Med/Surg units may be required.
- Required Qualifications: Active Massachusetts RN License; BLS and ACLS certifications; 2+ years of adult ICU experience; telemetry competency; experience reading tele strips; experience working in high-acuity environments; at least 2 years of continuous work experience in a single location, preferably in a MICU.
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: The position requires floating across adult medical and surgical units, with patient ratios generally 1:2 or 1:1 for high-acuity patients, and 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other areas. The electronic health record system used is EPIC. Submission must include license verification, resume, references, skills checklist, and candidate submission coversheet.
