Description

American Traveler is hiring a Medical ICU RN for a night-shift assignment at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and NIHSS, BLS, and ACLS certifications.

Details

  • Medical Intensive Care unit with 14 beds and a census of 14
  • 12-hour night shifts (7P-7A), 36 hours/week
  • Cares for medical ICU patients with respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, stroke, ARDS, and other critical diagnoses
  • Manages chronic ventilator and tracheostomy patients
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:1-2, occasionally 1:3
  • CNA support of 1-2 per shift for basic care tasks
  • Weekend rotation of 6 shifts within a 6-week schedule
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Floats to all adult ICU units including PCU
  • Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, and Phillips monitors
  • Utilizes specialized equipment including TABLO, Belmont Rapid Infuser, and cooling/heating blankets

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • CCRN certification preferred but not required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required
  • Minimum 12 months of core experience in the unit specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Skilled in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and titration of vasoactive, insulin, and heparin drips
  • Experience managing invasive lines including arterial lines, central venous lines, and ICP monitoring
  • Experience assisting with bedside procedures such as chest tube placement, tracheostomy, and PEG tube placement
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

  • Provide critical care nursing to hemodynamically unstable ICU patients requiring close monitoring and invasive support
  • Work within a busy but team-oriented unit culture
  • Supported by 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage, along with resource and discharge nurses
  • Charge nurse may carry a patient assignment
  • Facility offers free parking around campus with paid deck options available
  • Orientation includes 1 day of facility-level onboarding and 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
  • Navy scrubs required for RNs
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No radius rule applies for local candidates within GA facilities, offering the same pay rate
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position there
