Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The RN will provide high-quality nursing care to our patients, focusing on cardiac care in a medical-surgical environment.

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 30
• Patient Ratio: 6:1
• Unit Staffing: Unit clerk on days, 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) day & night, Nursing Supervisor, and Hospitalists
• Type of Equipment: Welch Allyn vitals neuron, Novameter glucose, GE Telemetry, and Rover’s
• Documentation System: Meditech-HCA version
• Medications: WOW for all nurses, PyxisES dispensing system
• Scheduling Requirements: Equivalent of every other weekend (4 weekend shifts/4-week schedule)
• Floating Policy: Other medical-surgical areas including general MS, Ortho, Progressive Care Unit, and surgical with oncology; rotation based unless skill mix is needed
• Patient Experience Requirements: Bedside rounding, hourly rounding with 5P’s checked, and managing communication with PCTs

Qualifications

• Education: Valid RN license with required certifications including ACLS and BLS.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience; cardiac knowledge preferred.
• Advanced Skills: Proficient in managing Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips.
• Procedures: Chest tube management, wound vac management, and EKG administration as needed.

Dress Code

Registered Nurses are required to wear navy scrubs. Patient Care Technicians (CNA/PCT) should wear ceil blue scrub sets and jackets if desired. T-shirts in white, blue, grey, orange, or black may be worn underneath without graphics. Artificial nails and gel nail polish are not permitted.

Unit Guidelines/Policies

Documentation of telemetry application and acknowledgment of rhythm strips must be completed for each shift. Adhere to the NO PASS ZONE policy for bed alarms, call lights, and IV alarms.
