Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a fast-paced cardiac unit. This is a day shift position with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 30
• Patient Ratio: 6:1
• Unit Staffing Description: Includes a unit clerk during the day, 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) for both day and night shifts, nursing supervisor, and hospitalists.
• Type of Equipment: Welch Allyn vitals monitor, Novameter glucose meter, GE Telemetry systems, and Rover devices.
• Documentation System: Meditech-HCA version.
• Medication Management: WOW system for all nurses and PyxisES dispensing system.
• Scheduling Requirements: Equivalent of every other weekend (4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule).
• Floating Policy: May include floating to other medical/surgical areas such as general M/S, orthopedic, progressive care, and surgical oncology units as needed.
• Patient Experience Requirements: Engage in bedside and hourly rounding with a focus on known patient needs, utilizing departmental focus areas and updates effectively.

Qualifications

• Required Certifications: BLS and ACLS.
• Preferred Skills: Cardiac knowledge.
• Advanced Skills: Proficient in administering Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips.
• Procedures Performed on Unit: Chest tube management, wound vac management, and EKGs as needed.

Dress Code

Nurses are to wear navy scrubs, while PCTs may wear ceil blue scrubs. T-shirts in white, blue, grey, orange, or black without graphics are permitted under the scrubs. Artificial or gel nails and gel polish are not allowed.

Unit Policies

• Documentation of telemetry application and rhythm strip acknowledgment is mandatory each shift.
• Adherence to "NO PASS ZONE" policies for bed alarms, call lights, and IV alarms.
