Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week assignment requiring 2 years of acute care experience, IV starts, and Epic proficiency at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital.
Details
- Med/Surg Tele unit caring for adult patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under the Family Medicine service
- Geriatric patient population
- Includes Department of Corrections patients (0-10 at any time) housed in a locked wing, with DOC officers accompanying staff during care
- 12-hour Day/Night rotating shifts (0700-1930 / 1900-0730) with every other weekend and holidays as needed
- D/N rotators limited to 2 shift flips per 6-week scheduling period, with 36 hours off between a night shift and a following day shift
- Floating required as needed
- EPIC EMR used
Requirements
- Active RN license (WI or Compact)
- BLS certification (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in the specialty applied to
- Experience starting and maintaining IVs required
- Epic charting experience required, preferably within the past 12 months
- Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and 80%+ passing score, with up to two attempts (a third attempt allowed after completing a cardiac interpretation review course)
Additional Information
- Provide care for adult and geriatric med/surg and telemetry patients, including monitoring, rhythm interpretation, and management of dysrhythmias
- Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, port and PICC line management, feeding tube care, and administration of medications such as heparin, insulin, and PCA
- Manage patients on isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac, oxygen therapy, and substance withdrawal protocols as needed
- Experience with previous law enforcement patient care is preferred
- First-time travelers will be considered if they have five years of previous inpatient med/surg experience
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
