Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a teaching hospital, requiring 3 years of med/surg experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the MS/Tele unit of a teaching hospital
  • Cardiac telemetry patient population with estimated 1:3 patient ratios
  • Rotating day (7:00 AM-7:30 PM) and night (7:00 PM-7:30 AM) 3x12 shifts totaling 36 hours per week
  • Weekend and rotating holiday coverage required
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity across the OSU organization as needed
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) required and must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 3 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
  • Inpatient setting experience required
  • Skills required include IV starts and telemetry monitoring
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second from a Charge RN; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of rapid response/code teams
  • Additional clinical skills may include IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, wound care, insulin drip titration, and respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care)
  • Previous travel experience preferred but not required if other experience requirements are met
  • First-time travelers may be considered if experience requirements are met
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing the contract, either in-person or via mailed packet for those outside driving distance
