Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position on a General Surgery unit, working night shifts with float requirements across units and hospitals.

Details

• 32-bed General Surgery unit (5 South) in a hospital setting, specializing in postoperative care for general surgical patients
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 13-week contract
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Care focuses on postoperative needs including pain management, mobility, and bedside procedures
• Collaborative care team includes family practice physicians, hospitalists, and surgeons
• Floating required to other units and hospitals
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• EMR: Meditech (experience preferred but not required)

Requirements

• Active AL RN license or compact RN license required; no pending or temporary licenses accepted
• No hits (past or current) on nursing license allowed
• AHA BLS or Red Cross BLS certification required
• Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience; candidates with 18 months may be considered
• At least 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry or General Surgery specialty required
• Current driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration

• Provides postoperative care in a 32-bed general surgical unit, with emphasis on creating a comfortable and healing environment tailored to each patient's needs
• Solid navy scrubs required
• No pre-start HealthStream modules required; competency-based modules will be completed during virtual orientation
• Candidates must pass a Cardiac Exam after offer acceptance; the exam link is time-sensitive
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restrictions
