Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring ortho experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit with an average daily census of 37 patients across 39 beds
• Patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical cases
• Fast-paced unit requiring strong pain management skills for ortho and spine patients
• Patient ratios expected at 5-6:1, with rare flexing up to 7:1
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 06:45-19:15
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Block scheduling option available (F/S/S or S/S/M)
• Floating required to other med-surg units based on census needs
• Every other weekend required, with make-up time required for any weekend call-outs

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Ortho work experience required
• BLS and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
• ACLS, charge nurse experience, and Level I Trauma experience preferred
• IV start and telemetry skills required
• Epic EMR experience required for first-time travelers
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for orthopedic, neuro spine, and post-surgical med-surg patients
• Monitor and manage patient pain levels in a fast-paced environment
• Weekly orientation provided
• Pre-start and annual completion of online training modules required (8-10 hours for acute care roles)
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• No RTO permitted during the first week of assignment due to orientation
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval
• Previous perm, PRN, or EP staff employees of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travel pairs accepted, provided each has independent transportation and is comfortable with differing schedules
• First-time travelers considered with required Epic EMR experience
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate within 50 miles of the facility
• 13-week assignments or longer considered, through end of February
