Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Tele, Orthopedic & Spine – Winston-Salem, NC

Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,660–$1,750
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour days, 6:45 a.m.–7:15 p.m.
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
• Healthcare Setting: Adult acute-care Med/Surg Tele unit
• Patient Population: Adults, including orthopedic, neuro-spine, medical-surgical, and post-surgical patients
• Patient Ratio: Typically 5–6 patients, with the potential to flex to 7 in extreme circumstances
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: Must be willing to float to other medical-surgical units based on staffing needs
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Scheduling: Block scheduling may be available

Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or a compact state; pending licensure may be considered for submission
• At least 2 years of acute-care Registered Nurse experience
• Required: Recent orthopedic nursing experience
• Epic charting experience
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications
• Ability to successfully complete specialty EKG testing before the assignment begins
• Strong telemetry knowledge and cardiac rhythm-interpretation skills
• First-time travelers may be considered with appropriate Epic experience
• Willingness to complete required pre-start education and compliance testing within the designated timeframe

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult orthopedic, neuro-spine, medical-surgical, and post-surgical patients
• Monitor telemetry and recognize, interpret, and respond to dysrhythmias
• Manage complex post-operative pain regimens and provide attentive pain reassessment
• Care for patients following total joint replacement, hip and orthopedic trauma procedures, and neurosurgery
• Perform and document patient assessments, medication administration, IV therapy, central-line care, surgical-drain management, and peripheral nerve catheter care as indicated
• Apply appropriate isolation precautions and safely manage oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway support, and other respiratory needs
• Administer blood products and follow applicable heparin and PCA protocols
• Recognize changes in patient condition and collaborate with rapid-response, respiratory, pharmacy, rehabilitation, and other interdisciplinary teams
• Float to comparable medical-surgical units when needed while maintaining safe, organized, and patient-centered care
• Deliver a high level of customer service to patients, families, and the care team
