Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift hospital position requiring 2 years of experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Med/Surg Tele unit with typical M/S diagnoses including dementia, diabetes, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, and hip fracture
  • Isolation area maintained for COVID patients
  • Multi-level care unit including stepdown patients cared for by dedicated stepdown staff
  • Target patient ratio of 1:5-6
  • Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 7:15
  • 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
  • 13 to 26 week contract lengths accepted
  • Floating required within or near the facility
  • Weekend requirement of 12-16 shifts per contract
  • Uses Pyxis for medication management, Epic for documentation, and SBAR for communication
  • Scheduling based on unit needs

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license (pending license/certs OK at submission)
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required

  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for a diverse Med/Surg Tele patient population including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
  • Assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters
  • May be reassigned to units as needed if consolidation to a Centralized Office occurs mid-contract
  • Unit orientation is 24 hours with hospital orientation during week one requiring daily class attendance
  • Navy/white scrub color requirement
  • Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
  • RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
  • Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status, not both
  • Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units with separate transportation and schedules
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Charge nurse experience preferred but not required
