• Healthcare Setting: On-site medical-surgical telemetry unit
• Additional Scheduling: Travelers should be prepared to work at least every other holiday and may float to comparable units caring for the same patient population as operational needs require.

Med/Surg Tele RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or an active compact-state license in hand at the time of submission
• At least 1 year of combined permanent experience in medical-surgical telemetry nursing
• Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Recent professional reference from a manager, assistant nurse manager, supervisor, or director within the specialty
• Ability to complete ECG rhythm recognition and medication-safety assessments during orientation
• Strong telemetry assessment, acute-care nursing, clinical judgment, communication, and time-management skills

Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical telemetry setting
• Perform focused and comprehensive patient assessments, identify changes in condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize clinical deterioration, and respond according to established protocols
• Administer medications and treatments safely while evaluating patient responses
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate individualized plans of care
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, safety, and discharge needs
• Maintain accurate, timely electronic health record documentation and follow all clinical and patient-safety standards
• Adapt to rotating day and night assignments and float to comparable units when needed
