Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a night shift contract requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• 32-bed Med/Surg-Tele unit within a Level 3 Trauma teaching hospital with a certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
• Average daily census of 28 patients
• Patient population includes total joint replacements, colon resection, gallbladder and appendectomy cases, amputations, hip fractures, SBO, NG tube management, and medical overflow
• RN patient ratios of 1:4-6 on days and 1:5-6 on nights, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Possibility of low census call-back, up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed and within scope of practice
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• Uses Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg-Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Last 4 of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care for Med/Surg-Tele patients with support from CNAs, unit receptionists, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Telemetry monitoring and dedicated tech support available on the unit
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers will be expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
• Navy scrub color required
• Free parking available on-site
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify, as locals are not accepted
• Previous AHSE facility employees must be separated from a permanent position for at least 1 year before starting
