Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg-Tele RN for an Emergency Observation Unit position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Emergency Observation Unit within a Trauma Level III teaching hospital
• 10-bed unit with average daily census of 8 patients
• Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5 and CNA ratio of 1:10
• EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700) on a 36-hour week, 6-week schedule cycle
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division) as needed within scope of practice

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skilled in stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley)
• Experience with medication drip management including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IVF
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for cardiac and telemetry patients including medication administration and drip management
• Supported by a Charge RN, Resource RN, Supervisor, and 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Hospitalist coverage
• Phlebotomy responsibilities shared between RNs and IV team, with dedicated IV/VAT team support
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers will be expected to work 75% of designated holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
• Navy scrub color required
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
• First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
