Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit requiring a TX or compact license and 3+ years of experience.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg Telemetry unit (K5) with 24 beds
• Patient to nurse ratio of 6:1, with PCTs present at a 12:1 ratio
• Common diagnoses include CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, CKD, and med/surg telemetry cases
• Unit utilizes a virtual integrated care (VIC) nursing model
• Tele monitor techs watch patients, but RNs must be able to read telemetry strips
• Care for CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen patients
• Uses Paragon EMR charting system
• 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend required
• First to float among all Med/Surg units, with possible float to PCU for tele hold patients
• Schedule is set by the manager and block scheduling cannot be guaranteed

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• Strong communication and time management skills required

• Support available from Charge Nurses, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators
• Department orientation is completed for the Kurth Tower, which encompasses all Med/Surg Tele units
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Holiday coverage is required
