Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Three weekend shifts during a four-week period
• Healthcare Setting: Acute care medical-surgical and medical units

Med/Surg RN Job Requirements

• At least 1.5 years of Registered Nurse experience in a Level I, Level II, or tertiary-care hospital
• At least 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience in a large hospital setting with approximately 450 beds or more
• Current Registered Nurse license in Indiana or a valid compact RN license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and clinical documentation skills
• Ability to adapt quickly and float to other medical units based on patient-care needs

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive acute care medical-surgical nursing to adult patients with diverse diagnoses and acuity levels
• Care for patients with conditions including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, pancreatitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, pneumonia, sepsis, stroke, dementia, traumatic brain injuries, and mental health concerns
• Perform head-to-toe assessments, develop and update nursing care plans, administer medications, and evaluate patient responses to treatment
• Manage IV therapy, IV pumps, telemetry monitoring, insulin and heparin infusions, feeding pumps, feeding tubes, chest tubes, wound vacs, and other medical-surgical equipment
• Support patients before and after procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopies, biopsies, amputations, and minor surgeries
• Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate safe, effective patient care
• Document accurately in Epic and use Pyxis, Accu-Chek, Hospira IV pumps, sequential compression devices, and related clinical equipment
• Float to other medical units as needed while maintaining safe staffing practices, clinical standards, and quality patient care
