Travel Nursing Job Details

• Healthcare Setting: Acute-care medical-surgical units
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Three weekend shifts within a four-week period
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5–6
• Floating: Medical-surgical and other medical units based on staffing needs
• Charting System: Epic

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• At least 1.5 years of Level I, Level II, or tertiary-care nursing experience
• At least 1 year of Medical-Surgical RN experience in a large hospital environment of approximately 450 beds or more
• Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, organization, and clinical communication skills
• Ability to adapt quickly while floating among medical units and caring for varied adult patient populations

Travel Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive Medical-Surgical nursing care for patients with diverse acute and chronic conditions
• Perform thorough patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient progress
• Care for patients with COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, pancreatitis, gastrointestinal disorders, infections, stroke, dementia, traumatic brain injuries, and behavioral health concerns
• Support patients undergoing or recovering from procedures such as colonoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, biopsies, and amputations
• Manage IV therapy, IV pumps, feeding pumps and tubes, wound vacuums, chest tubes, telemetry, and SCD devices
• Safely administer and monitor heparin and insulin infusions
• Use Epic, Pyxis, Accu-Chek, and other unit technology to document and support patient care
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Float to medical units as needed while maintaining safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care
