Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 15-week night shift assignment requiring an active IL RN license and at least 1 year of experience.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit with 29 beds, mixture of private and semi-private rooms
• Typical census of 22-26 patients with a target of 25
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 4-5:1 on days and 5-6:1 on nights
• Patient population includes GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, COVID, comfort measures, osteomyelitis, falls, DVT, and pulmonary embolisms
• RNs required to titrate Heparin drips only
• 24-hour Charge RN and Crisis RN coverage, with administrative supervisor available as a resource
• 24-hour PCT coverage with a 1:10 PCT-to-patient ratio
• No ventilators on unit; patients may require oxygen up to 6L NC or stable BiPAP/CPAP
• Telemetry monitored remotely via house-wide department using Phillips equipment
• Unit clerk coverage available 24 hours
• EPIC EMR used, no prior experience required
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with shift report at 7a and 7p
• Every other weekend required, with nightshift weekend as Fri/Sat
• Holidays rotated
• No call or standby requirements
• Travel RNs float first to other similar med/surg units, not to ICU or chemo patients

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred but not required
• BSN not required
• Must be able to attempt IV starts using unit resources as needed

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a wide range of medical diagnoses on an acute Med/Surg unit
• Utilize inpatient phlebotomy team for blood draws
• Receive 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation
• Any color scrubs accepted, staff must provide their own, pediatric scrubs not permitted
• COVID vaccination is not required for this facility
• Local candidates accepted with adjusted pay rate for those within 50 miles of the facility
• No radius restriction for eligibility
