Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Level I trauma, Magnet acute care hospital, requiring 2+ years of experience and PICC line/IV starting skills.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit within an acute care hospital
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (0645-1915)
• Every other weekend required, with make-up weekends if time off falls on a scheduled weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
• Max ratio of 1:7 if needed, though not common
• Cerner charting system used

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of application
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience required
• PICC line management and IV starting/maintenance experience required
• Cerner experience preferred
• Must be willing to care for tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients (experience not required, willingness to learn is)
• Additional skills include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, CBI, PCA, surgical drains, and wound care/wound vac

• Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
• Any solid color scrubs accepted
• Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must have separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• RTO requests are reviewed and approved by the facility based on unit scheduling needs
• Only one winter holiday off may be requested
• Candidates must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
