Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with Urology/Nephrology experience for a day shift assignment requiring an active IL RN license and Cerner experience.

Details

  • 25-bed Medical Surgical unit specializing in Urology/Nephrology with an average daily census of 23
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 0645-1915
  • Requires working every other weekend
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within Medical Surgical units and to affiliate facilities
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Cerner EMR used for charting

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience required
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Experience with MS/Tele and Genitourinary/Renal care including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills including telemetry remote monitoring and rapid response team use
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
  • Respiratory care skills including chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and oxygen tank use
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
  • Experience with Heparin administration
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds
  • Any solid color scrubs permitted
  • Parking permit provided at no cost, completed during orientation
  • First-time travelers considered if they have a solid foundation with 2+ years of Med/Surg experience
  • Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
  • Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
  • RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 days
  • Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • Preferred experience with kidney transplant and urology/nephrology cases
  • Preferred teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience
