Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with a compact or MD license and at least one prior travel assignment to support a wound salvage program requiring 2 years of recent experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit setting
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Supports a wound salvage program treating patients with wounds and PVD, including serial OR procedures, wound cultures, wound vacs, and pain management
• Float required within skillset as needed
• Every 3rd weekend required
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6

Requirements

• Active RN license - Compact or Maryland (MD) license required
• Current BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience within the last 7 years
• Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, PICC line management, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation preferred
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, and CVA patient care
• Experience administering heparin, insulin, and PCA medications preferred
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and rapid response/code team activation

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care with a focus on wound management and limb preservation
• Participate in wound salvage program protocols, which may include coordination for OR procedures and, in some cases, amputations
• Flu vaccine required for all employees
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a reduced rate
• Previous MedStar employees must have a separation period of at least one year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment
