Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro Med/Surg RN with 2+ years of recent experience and NIHSS certification for a night shift position in Birmingham, AL.

Details

• Work on a 24-bed Neuro Med/Surg acute care unit within a hospital setting
• Care for general medicine patients with a focus on neuro and post-stroke acute care
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule from 18:45 to 07:15
• Weekend rotation required every 3rd weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Float to other units within the acute care division, including facilities within a 25-mile radius
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Uses general acute care hospital equipment

Requirements

• Active RN license (AL or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS (AHA only, American Red Cross not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in neuro/post-stroke acute care required
• Experience with dysphagia screenings and stroke assessments required
• BCMA experience required
• Strong time management and interdisciplinary communication skills required
• TR band management experience preferred

Additional Information

• Perform dysphagia screenings, stroke assessments, and provide neuro/post-stroke acute care
• Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary care team
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Fingernails must comply with TJC and CMS guidelines and shoes must be closed-toed with backs
• Professional, adaptable, hardworking, and patient-centered demeanor expected
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this travel position
