Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Ortho/Neuro night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Medical Surgical unit with an Ortho/Neuro patient focus
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 7p-7a
  • Patient ratio of 1:6-7
  • Every other weekend required, covering at least Saturday and Sunday
  • No standing on-call requirement, though may be placed on call for a scheduled shift due to census with an 8-hour call requirement
  • Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units and sister facilities
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or compact license in hand prior to start
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • AHA certifications only
  • 2 years of RN experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Med/Surg experience required with Ortho/Neuro experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, wound care, and cardiac monitoring
  • Experience with neurological conditions such as CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury preferred
  • Experience with orthopedic care including ortho trauma and total joint replacement preferred
  • Social Security Number and Driver's License required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to Med/Surg patients with a focus on Ortho/Neuro cases
  • Utilize skills in IV therapy, wound care, tracheostomy management, and cardiac monitoring as needed
  • Respond to Rapid Response and Code team activations as required
  • Royal blue scrub color required
  • Free parking available on-site
  • First-time travelers will be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on experience
  • Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
  • All requested time off must be submitted at time of application for review and approval based on facility needs
  • Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
