Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Ortho/Neuro RN with 2 years of experience and an active SC or compact RN license for a 13-week travel assignment.

Details

  • Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital setting, focused on Ortho/Neuro patient populations
  • Patient ratios of 1:6-7
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00am to 7:00pm
  • Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
  • No standing on-call requirement, though may be placed on call for a scheduled shift due to census, with an 8-hour call requirement in that case
  • Floating within scope required to meet facility needs, including between like units or sister facilities
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • 2 years of RN experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Ortho/Neuro nursing experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line management, and blood product administration preferred
  • Experience with colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, and wound care preferred
  • Experience with CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care preferred
  • Experience with tracheostomy care and high flow nasal cannula preferred
  • Experience with total joint replacement and ortho trauma patients preferred
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring and rapid response/code team protocols preferred
  • Driver's license and Social Security number required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to medical surgical patients with a focus on orthopedic and neurological cases
  • Royal blue scrubs required
  • Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the MUSC system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers may be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on experience
  • Block scheduling requests may be submitted for consideration but are not guaranteed
  • Facility may cancel up to 1 shift per 2 week period
  • During hurricane season (June through November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
  • Free parking available on-site
