Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery/Postpartum RN for a Level 3 Trauma facility requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and willingness to work an LDRP setting.

Details

  • Labor and Delivery/Postpartum unit with 8 labor rooms, 3 triage rooms, 1 OR suite, and 1 PACU
  • Average patient volume of 4 to 6 patients per day
  • Patient population includes labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
  • Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 inactive labor, 1:1 active labor, 1:3-4 couplets
  • 12-hour night shifts from 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
  • Schedule cycle rotates every 6 weeks with 7a-7p and 7p-7a shift options
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Low census call possible, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) per scope of practice
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and fetal/Philips newborn monitors

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, EFM, and NRP certifications
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Ability and willingness to work in an LDRP setting
  • Must be able to perform labor management, cesarean section circulation, pre-op/PACU care, triage, newborn resuscitation, and Pitocin/epidural management
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn stages
  • 24/7 charge nurse support and respiratory therapy coverage available
  • Hospitalist coverage available 24/7 for newborn care
  • Phlebotomy support provided for peripheral blood draws
  • Resource nurse support available when staffing allows
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with contract hours extended if unmet
  • Facility-issued green scrubs required
  • Unit culture emphasizes teamwork
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify as travelers
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before returning
