Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and willingness to work in an LDRP setting.

Details

  • Level 3 Trauma hospital with 241 licensed beds, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
  • Labor and Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms, 3 triage rooms, 1 OR suite, and 1 PACU
  • Average of 4 to 6 patients per day
  • Patient population includes labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
  • RN staffing follows AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 inactive labor, 1:1 active labor, 1:3-4 couplets
  • CST staffed 1 per shift
  • Charge nurse support available 24/7
  • RT support available 24/7 within the hospital
  • Hospitalist available 24/7 for newborn care
  • Phlebotomy support available for peripheral blood draws
  • Resource nurse available when staffing allows
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
  • Utilizes fetal monitors and Philips monitors for newborns
  • Unit equipment includes scales, ultrasound, and ambulation assist devices
  • 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend
  • Low census call possible, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
  • Required to float within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, EFM, and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required, with ability to work in an LDRP setting
  • Most recent clinical experience within the last 12 months preferred
  • Skilled in labor management, cesarean section circulation, pre-op and PACU care, triage, newborn resuscitation, Pitocin management, and epidural management
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • One professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn stages
  • Collaborate with a supportive care team including charge nurses, hospitalists, and respiratory therapists
  • Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with contract extension required if hours are not met
  • Hospital-issued green scrubs required
  • Free parking available on-site
  • Unit culture emphasizes teamwork
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after a permanent position before reapplying
