Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk, high-volume unit requiring at least 1 year of L&D experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• High risk/high volume Labor & Delivery unit with 4 ORs and 31 rooms/beds
• Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
• Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
• Patient ratio of 1:1-2
• Uses Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring
• Functions as Baby Nurse during delivery and provides newborn care until transfer to postpartum
• Circulates for deliveries including C-sections
• Administers high-risk medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
• Required to float to Postpartum/Antepartum units and sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
• Works every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• ACLS and AWHONN Advanced/Intermediate certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience required, with high-risk experience specifically needed
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high acuity environment
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in newborn care including APGAR scoring, resuscitation, and thermoregulation
• Experience with high-risk delivery assistance, vaginal delivery, and C-section circulation
• Experience with fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience with postpartum care including hemorrhage management and couplet care
• 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provides comprehensive labor, delivery, and newborn care following AWHONN guidelines
• Performs sterile vaginal exams, amnioinfusion, and assists with forceps/vacuum extractions
• Provides postpartum care including lactation support, fundus/lochia checks, and wound assessment
• Supports pain management including epidural, general anesthesia, and opioid administration
• Must disclose any prior employment history with Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or per-diem roles
• Former Providence permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month separation period
• Candidates local to the area are accepted at the same bill rate
• Radius requirement of 50 miles applies for local candidate eligibility
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
