Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring high-risk experience and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity unit.

Details

  • Work in a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 rooms/beds and 4 ORs
  • Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
  • Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services for substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
  • Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
  • Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
  • Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum units and may include floating to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
  • Functions in the Baby Nurse role during delivery, continuing newborn care until transfer to Post Partum
  • Circulating role required
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Utilizes electronic fetal monitoring

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required
  • High-risk Labor & Delivery experience required
  • Experience with patient ratios of 1:1-2
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Skilled in labor and delivery management, amnioinfusion, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, forceps/vacuum extraction, hemorrhage/shock management, C-section recovery, and sterile vaginal exams
  • Experience with medication administration including Heparin, Insulin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Pitocin
  • Newborn care skills including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, ID/security banding, neonatal resuscitation, and use of radiant warmers
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

  • Provide circulating duties and newborn care including eye treatment, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments
  • Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • Must be willing to commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Pre-approved time off considered on a case-by-case basis
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the standard bill rate
  • Local radius rule of 50 miles applies
  • Former permanent employees of the facility may return as travelers after a 3-month separation period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
  • Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or registry/per-diem roles, with location and dates if applicable
  • May be asked to float between sister facilities in the surrounding area
