Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience, AWHONN, and NRP certification.

Details

• Community hospital Labor and Delivery unit
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Certifications required: AWHONN (Beginner), BLS, FHM, NRP
• Preferred certifications: AWHONN Intermediate, NRP Advanced, STABLE
• Previous travel experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and infusion pump use
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including adult and neonatal arrest
• Experience assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, including forceps/vacuum extraction
• Experience with amnioinfusion, hemorrhage/shock management, and C-section recovery
• Skilled in fetal monitoring, including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
• Experience administering medications such as Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Experience with antepartum care, including NSTs, sterile vaginal exams, and OB triage
• Skilled in newborn care, including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and newborn assessment
• Experience caring for patients with high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, and preterm labor
• Experience with postpartum care, including fundus/lochia checks and breastfeeding support

Additional Information

• Facility performs 200-300+ births per month
• Responsibilities include labor management, high-risk delivery support, and newborn care in the delivery room
• Provides antepartum, postpartum, and couplet care to mothers and infants
• Involves care for patients with complex conditions including HELLP syndrome, uterine rupture, and substance abuse
• Requires use of isolation precautions and PPE
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered
• Former Guthrie Healthcare System employees must be separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
