Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery Night Shift | Everett, WA

Travel Labor & Delivery RN needed in Everett, Washington, for a 13-week night-shift assignment caring for high-risk mothers and newborns.

Join a collaborative Labor & Delivery team in Everett, Washington, and make a meaningful impact caring for high-risk mothers and newborns. Located near scenic Puget Sound, Everett offers easy access to waterfront activities, outdoor recreation, and the vibrant culture of the greater Seattle area. This 13-week travel nursing assignment provides an opportunity to support a comprehensive maternity service with Level III perinatal care and a Level II trauma setting.

  • Shift Hours: Approximately 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
  • Call: Not required
  • Weekends: Required; holiday coverage may be scheduled
  • Orientation: 40 hours
  • Charting: Epic
  • Unit: High-risk perinatal care with labor, antepartum, postpartum, operating rooms, PACU, and triage services

Travel Labor & Delivery RN Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license eligible to practice in Washington; compact license must be in hand when applicable
  • At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
  • Strong experience with high-risk antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum care
  • Demonstrated competency performing sterile vaginal examinations; this is required
  • Experience with fetal monitoring, including recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
  • Current AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring certification
  • Epic charting experience
  • Experience at a hospital handling approximately 200 or more deliveries is preferred; candidates with experience in settings handling 100–200 deliveries may also be considered
  • Ability to float to postpartum as needed and work a rotating weekend and holiday schedule

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, antepartum, and postpartum care
  • Monitor maternal and fetal status using external and internal fetal monitoring, NSTs, and other clinical assessments
  • Manage high-risk conditions including preeclampsia, eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, preterm labor, premature rupture of membranes, and postpartum hemorrhage
  • Administer and monitor medications and therapies such as oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, antihypertensives, terbutaline, epidural anesthesia, and nitrous oxide
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, cesarean sections, VBACs, forceps or vacuum-assisted deliveries, and neonatal resuscitation
  • Circulate for cesarean sections and recover patients following operative procedures
  • Perform newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, cord care, identification banding, and newborn hypoglycemia monitoring
  • Support couplet care, breastfeeding and lactation education, discharge teaching, and family-centered care
  • Insert and manage IVs and urinary catheters, draw blood samples, manage epidurals, and provide pain assessment and management
  • Collaborate with delivering providers, anesthesia, surgical technicians, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Epic while promoting patient safety, infection prevention, and professional nursing standards
