Travel Nursing Job Details

- Schedule: Four 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Call: Not required
- Float: Required to Postpartum and potentially nearby affiliated locations
- Unit Setting: High-risk perinatal care with 19 labor and delivery beds, 10 antepartum beds, 30 postpartum beds, 3 operating rooms, 2 PACU bays, and a 7-bay triage area
- Charting: Epic
- Guaranteed Hours: Up to one 12-hour shift may be called off per two-week period
Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required
- Experience caring for high-risk perinatal patients; experience in units managing approximately 200 or more deliveries preferred, though candidates with experience managing 100–200 deliveries may be considered
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Washington; compact license must be active and in hand when applicable
- BLS/BCLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- AWHONN Intermediate fetal monitoring or Relias Fetal Monitoring certification required; AWHONN Advanced experience is valued
- Epic electronic health record charting experience required
- Demonstrated competency with sterile vaginal examinations required
- Experience with electronic fetal monitoring, high-risk antepartum care, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, VBAC management, postpartum hemorrhage, preeclampsia/eclampsia, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, neonatal resuscitation, and newborn assessment
- Two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the last three years are required during the compliance process
- Local applicants within a 50-mile radius are not eligible under the assignment guidelines
Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to laboring patients, antepartum patients, postpartum mothers, and newborns
- Perform comprehensive maternal and newborn assessments, including fundus, lochia, perineum, reflex, edema, pain, and vital-sign evaluations
- Monitor fetal status using external and internal fetal monitoring, recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, and escalate concerns promptly
- Assist with high-risk vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, VBACs, forceps or vacuum deliveries, and newborn stabilization
- Manage labor interventions including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, terbutaline, epidural anesthesia, amnioinfusion, and intrauterine pressure catheter monitoring as indicated
- Provide care for patients experiencing preeclampsia, eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, premature rupture of membranes, preterm labor, hemorrhage, and other high-risk conditions
- Support couplet care, breastfeeding and lactation education, newborn assessments, glucose monitoring, thermoregulation, cord care, and discharge teaching
- Recover cesarean patients and support postoperative care in the PACU
- Collaborate with delivering providers, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, CNAs, respiratory services, pharmacy, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Float to Postpartum and other nearby affiliated locations as assigned while maintaining high standards of patient care and teamwork
