Travel RN Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,220–$2,340
  • Employment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
  • Location: Seattle, Washington
  • Start Date: October 19, 2026
  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; 4 shifts per week
  • Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
  • Schedule: Posted approximately every 6 weeks based on unit needs; weekend and holiday coverage required as scheduled
  • Healthcare Setting: High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit
  • Unit Details: 31 rooms/beds, 4 operating rooms, and approximately 15–17 patients per day
  • Floating: May float to Antepartum, Postpartum, NICU for helping-hands support, or other appropriate units; occasional support at nearby campuses may be required

Labor & Delivery Travel Nurse Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure eligible for practice in Washington; compact licensure accepted where applicable
  • At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
  • High-risk obstetric nursing experience in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting
  • Current BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications
  • Epic charting experience, including electronic fetal monitoring documentation through OBIX
  • Demonstrated ability to function as the newborn nurse during delivery and continue newborn care until transfer to postpartum
  • Ability to circulate for Cesarean sections is required
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional floating assignments as scheduled
  • ACLS and AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate certifications are preferred

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period.
  • Care for high-risk antepartum and laboring patients, including those receiving magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, heparin, antihypertensives, Pitocin, epidural anesthesia, and other therapies.
  • Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, obstetric emergencies, hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and other high-acuity conditions.
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries, Cesarean sections, forceps or vacuum-assisted deliveries, multiple births, and other complex obstetric procedures.
  • Serve as the newborn nurse during delivery, performing APGAR scoring, newborn assessments, thermoregulation, identification and security procedures, cord care, and administration of vitamin K and eye prophylaxis.
  • Circulate for Cesarean sections and support perioperative safety and patient care.
  • Perform fetal and maternal assessments, sterile vaginal examinations, triage support, IV management, Foley catheter care, and medication administration.
  • Provide postpartum and couplet-care support, including fundus, lochia, perineal, breastfeeding, and wound assessments.
  • Document care accurately in Epic and follow evidence-based practices aligned with AWHONN guidelines.
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, radiology, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
