Seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) for a 13-week travel nursing contract in Seattle, Washington. This on-site travel nurse opportunity is ideal for an experienced obstetric RN who is confident caring for high-risk patients, circulating for Cesarean sections, and providing essential newborn care. Located in Seattle’s vibrant 98122 area, this assignment offers access to diverse neighborhoods, cultural attractions, excellent dining, and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,220–$2,340
  • Location: Seattle, Washington 98122
  • Assignment: 13-week travel nursing contract
  • Start Date: October 19, 2026
  • Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
  • Unit: High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery
  • Unit Volume: Approximately 15–17 patients per day and 550 births per month
  • Scheduling: Posted approximately every six weeks based on unit needs
  • Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holidays as needed
  • Floating: May float to Antepartum, Postpartum, NICU for helping-hands support, or other units within applicable scope; occasional support at nearby campuses may be required

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of recent Registered Nurse experience in Labor & Delivery
  • High-risk Labor & Delivery nursing experience in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • Current Registered Nurse license; compact license must be active and in hand when applicable
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • AWHONN Advanced and/or Intermediate certification preferred
  • Proficiency with Epic and electronic fetal monitoring, including OBIX
  • Demonstrated ability to circulate for Cesarean sections
  • Demonstrated ability to function as the baby nurse during delivery and provide newborn care through transfer to postpartum
  • Two professional references covering recent clinical experience may be requested

Labor & Delivery Nursing Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and high-risk antepartum care
  • Assist with high-risk vaginal and operative deliveries, including Cesarean sections
  • Circulate for Cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
  • Serve as the baby nurse during delivery and continue newborn care until transfer to postpartum
  • Complete newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, identification and security banding, cord care, and thermoregulation
  • Administer newborn prophylaxis, including eye care and Vitamin K injections
  • Manage and monitor therapies such as magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, heparin, Pitocin, and other infusions within scope
  • Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, hemorrhage, hypertension, and other obstetric emergencies
  • Provide postpartum, couplet-care, breastfeeding, and lactation support as assigned
  • Document accurately in Epic and use electronic fetal monitoring systems according to unit standards and AWHONN guidelines
  • Collaborate with providers, midwives, anesthesia, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams to promote safe outcomes
